Advance Charity website launch – helping women and children break free from domestic abuse

This month we are proud to announce the launch of our new website created for Advance. In these difficult times during the weeks since we helped produce Advance’s annual report, it has become apparent that the risk to those suffering domestic abuse is on the rise due to the nationwide lockdown. Advance are on the front line supporting those who need urgent help.

Advance is a charity that supports women and children who suffer domestic abuse or women who have been in contact with the criminal justice system, so they can lead safe, violence and crime-free lives. Advance provides emotional and practical support to survivors, as well as liaising with support networks such as social services, legal teams and the emergency services on their behalf.

The launch of the website coincides with Advance’s ‘I am with her‘ campaign; an urgent appeal with a fundraising target of £100,000 to help run free telephone helplines for victims of abuse as well as advocacy services, and providing essentials such as housing, food and care packages. The campaign centres around 5 women’s stories; video case studies portraying real life survivors of abuse and how Advance has helped them.

We created the website for Advance in WordPress using a simple ‘starter’ theme and collection of tried and trusted plugins. This solid foundation, combined with a small amount of bespoke functionality added from our own code-base, enabled us to create a flexible and easy to use solution to meet our client’s brief.

With a strong video presence on the homepage combined with rich imagery and emotive messaging we were able to effectively communicate Advance’s 2 key goals; to provide support to women in need and to increase awareness and donations to help enable them to continue their life-saving work.

It is such a privilege to be able to work for organisations that are a force for good and can make a real difference to people’s lives. This is just phase 1 but we will be continuing to work with the great team at Advance. Over the next few weeks we’ll be looking to add additional functionality and information to the news and events section to help them achieve their goals as soon as possible and protect more women and children in these unprecedented times.

Advance’s CEO Niki Scordi said:

Domestic abuse is often hidden behind closed doors in our homes and affects 1 in 4 women and 1 in 6 men in the UK.  In these difficult times, if you are worried about someone – a family member, a friend or a neighbour- you can help save a life.  The I AM WITH HER campaign calls on us all to help by understanding more about domestic abuse and letting those suffering know that help is available; they are not alone. We are very pleased to be launching our new Advance website, developed in partnership with tothepoint.  The team at tothepoint made it possible for us to share more about Advance’s work and for our supporters and the public to get involved and make a real difference to the lives of thousands of women and children Find out more about Advance’s ‘I am with her’ campaign and watch the video stories
