2020 vision

2020 introduced us to a new world including words and phrases rarely heard before. These have now become all too familiar…

Doing our
bit….

Three core topics became key driving forces that would impact all our lives…

In our own small way, some of the work we have produced over the last year has echoed these themes – helping our clients to engage with their varied audiences and communicate these complex issues more clearly.

Following the science

ABPI
Explaining medicine to government and the general public more concisely through video and social media.

An exciting new era of biosciences in the UK

The Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) are the trade association representing innovative research based biopharmaceutical companies, leading an exciting new era of biosciences in the UK.

They are recognised by the government as the industry body negotiating on behalf of the branded pharmaceutical industry for statutory consultation requirements including the pricing scheme for medicines in the UK.

They were aware that basic information was not being communicated clearly both internally and externally.

Using video and animation to communicate complex messages

The explainer videos that we created for the ABPI played a key role in communicating the risks and benefits of research and why investment in developing medicines is so vital but needs a return. By creating engaging animated infographics, and supporting social media templates, we were able to explain the three stages in the life cycle of a medicine in a way that was non-technical and easy to understand.

Creating a campaign based around 4 asks

The retail, hospitality and leisure sectors currently hang by a thread. Reimposing a national lockdown brought many businesses to their knees, but falling back into a tiered system may very well prove to be the final nail in their coffins.

As a successor to the #RaiseTheBar campaign, we helped Matthew Sims, CEO of Croydon BID and Katie Blake of Kallaway launch BounceBackBetter – a campaign comprising of 4 ‘asks’ which are vital to the survival and recovery of businesses, towns and cities across England.

Where typography and iconography are used for maximum advantage

We designed characterful speech bubbles for each ‘ask’ to give them personality.

Contrasting colour was used throughout to help differentiate between the asks and each one was assigned its own bubble character with a simple headline of what that ‘ask’ is hoping to achieve for the industry.

The campaign included a wordpress website, a downloadable PDF version of the website with relevant links, a downloadable toolkit of 10 social media templates for Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram for supporters to use and share, and the branding of the banners and icons for these platforms. The campaign is well underway and already attracting recognition and a good following.

We’ve worked with Simon Hutton and the team for years but I have to say, this campaign was something a little special. It showed how tothepoint came together as a complete unit to deliver an exceptional creative campaign in three days flat, complete with website. Totally stunning.

Supporting people

Advance Charity
Helping women and children break free from domestic abuse during COVID.

Direction, filming and production by Banijay, script and actors from Advance Charity.

Did you know?

0%

of women in custody have dependents under the age of 18

0%

of women have committed crime that they attribute to a need to support their children

0%

of women referred to community projects after arrest have experienced domestic violence, sexual abuse or rape

Advance is a charity that supports women and children who suffer domestic abuse at home or women who have been in contact with the criminal justice system, so they can lead safe, violence-free and crime-free lives.

In the current troubling climate, with the country in lockdown, people across the UK find themselves in enclosed spaces, being abused with nowhere to turn for help. Organisations like the Advance Charity are needed more than ever, working hard to find a way to continue supporting people in a very difficult situation.

Website launch

The launch of the website coincided with Advance’s ‘I am with her‘ campaign; an appeal with a fundraising target of £100,000 to help run free telephone helplines for victims of abuse as well as advocacy services, and providing essentials such as housing, food and care packages.

The campaign centred around 5 women’s stories; video case studies portraying real life survivors of abuse and how Advance has helped them.

Annual Report to introduce new strategies

The report is one of the essential communication tools when discussing the charity with stake holders and for fundraising. As well as evolving the design, emphasis was given to their five strategies and how these aligned with their core values, on its own dedicated spread. This could then be used as a snapshot communication tool for both staff and external audiences, providing clarity about their vision and purpose over this period. It was important that the photography was representative of the subject matter without showing actual survivors, to ensure their privacy and protection. The imagery, whilst serious, also needed to convey women who had hope.

Domestic abuse is often hidden behind closed doors in our homes and affects 1 in 4 women and 1 in 6 men in the UK.  In these difficult times, if you are worried about someone – a family member, a friend or a neighbour- you can help save a life.  The I AM WITH HER campaign calls on us all to help by understanding more about domestic abuse and letting those suffering know that help is available; they are not alone.
