Well, having revamped the Popchips website recently, we’ve been working with the KP brand team on revamping the Nuts website. Phase 1 comes with a new homepage, along with a promotion of their Movember sponsorship, raising awareness of men’s health. Phase 2 will follow soon, along with a new website for McCoy’s …. so watch this space!

ABPI Conference presentation and 10 year strategy

We were recently tasked with designing a suite of banners to brand and promote ABPI’s Annual Conference, their flagship event of the year. The conference brings together leaders from government, NHS and industry to discuss how we can build on this partnership to deliver on the ambition to make the UK a life sciences superpower, deliver world class NHS healthcare and build back better following the pandemic. Amongst the distinguished guest list of speakers was Matt Hancock MP, Secretary of State for Health and Professor Sir John Bell from the University of Oxford. In addition to the promotional banners, ABPI asked us to design a powerful and engaging infographic to represent its 10-year strategy and look at ways of bringing it to life in the main presentation at the conference.

A key theme that the infographic needed to convey was interconnectivity across all elements of the strategy. With this in mind, we set to work on sketching various graphics centred around a theme of connectivity, landing on the idea of a hexagon that also looked like a cube. The design was comprised of shards representing each element of the strategy. The 3D cube perspective added a sense of depth to the graphic, whilst the 2D shards made it feel very on brand. Each shard contained an icon relating to that particular pillar of the strategy, which could then be reviewed with supporting bullet pointed copy when clicked through.

Having designed the graphics and scoped out how the images would build up to the final graphic, we had the basics for a safe presentation but we and the client wanted a wow factor. Working with PowerPoint, most would think we’d be limited to the very basic or gimmicky slide transitions we are all used to. For such an important event, we were keen to incorporate more sophisticated motion. After some research, we achieved this by applying a subtle parallax effect to each slide (yes, this can be done in PowerPoint!) – this was the cherry on top, elevating the infographic and giving it the wow-factor we were all looking for.

Chief Executive, Dr Richard Torbett used this new infographics to help present ABPI as the best place in the world to research, develop and use the medicines and vaccines of the future. According to our client, it was all very well-received.

Simon, our MD, watched the video of the conference and said “It was an inspiring conference, full of positive messages in a sector we are very active in. There was an interesting chat between the outgoing and incoming president and I particularly liked Ben Osborne’s point that innovation is pointless if it doesn’t reach and benefit patients. This struck a chord, especially with so many industries pre Covid being slow at putting innovations into practice. One of the good things that’s come out of the pandemic is the focus on innovation and implementing new things at pace and with confidence based on diligence – hopefully this will continue.”

Are you growing with John?

We’ve just sent out our third mailing of seeds and leaflets for the #GrowWithJohn campaign and it’s been getting some great local press coverage and some partners coming on board to help promote this worthy initiative to help Croydon get green fingers this summer. The website is now full of content so if you are ready to build your own bug hotel and reap the benefits for your garden, then check this out : https://www.johnwhitgiftfoundation.org/gardening-tip/how-to-make-a-bug-hotel/ and tell us your stories on the social media channels that are following the progress of Grow with John. It’s great to see all the posts of people who are getting their seeds and can’t wait to get growing …have you got yours? There are some left so if not click here. It’s been a fun project and just need things to warm up a bit now that ours have arrived! #ttptryit
